Mago I Material Agora

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Technical lead responsible for the architecture and development of modern web solutions using Next.js and React, with infrastructure hosted on the Vercel platform. I led the strategic database migration from Heroku to Supabase (Postgres), and restructured the core application by replacing the original Go stack with TypeScript. This shift significantly accelerated the development of new features and improvements, while aligning the backend stack more closely with the frontend technologies. I implemented innovative AI-powered solutions, integrating the OpenAI API to build advanced tools, such as a chatbot specialized in quoting construction materials. This bot interprets complex and incomplete lists provided by users, performing hybrid searches (semantic and full-text) using PgVector (Postgres) on Supabase. I also developed experimental interactive interfaces generated by AI and solutions for automated data structuring. Additionally, I created an automated customer service agent capable of operating via text (WhatsApp) and voice (phone), using the OpenAI API for real-time natural language processing. This agent not only provides technical support but also handles pre-screening and lead qualification for sales, significantly boosting operational efficiency and drastically reducing customer response times—crucial for the lean structure of a startup.

Livance

Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

As VP of Engineering, I led a comprehensive technological transformation, working closely with technical teams as a hands-on developer and contributing directly to the implementation of several strategic initiatives alongside the squads. I actively led and developed with the team the technological migration of the platform, moving from a Flutter app and ASP.NET web application to an integrated solution using Capacitor, Vite, and TanStack Router. This transition unified the previously fragmented web and mobile experiences, delivering greater consistency, faster development cycles, and a significantly improved experience for both developers and end users. I spearheaded the implementation of a Design System, applied across all of the company's digital platforms—including the new landing pages, which were internalized using Next.js and Prismic. This enabled the marketing team to work independently, drastically reduced operational costs, and increased conversions by over 30%. I guided and actively contributed to the development of a fully integrated onboarding flow in Next.js, replacing complex and fragmented manual processes with a dynamic solution hosted on Vercel. As a result, we reduced onboarding time from days to just a few hours, offering clients a seamless experience from first access, with direct integration into our CRM and other internal systems. I personally designed and implemented, alongside the team, a robust and modern data pipeline, leveraging advanced techniques such as CDC (Change Data Capture), Fivetran, and DBT. We integrated data from SQL Server and PostgreSQL with various internal platforms, delivering near real-time insights through Metabase dashboards—leading to major gains in transparency and agility for strategic decision-making.

Head Of Engineering and Data Science

August 2017 - December 2018 (1 year 5 months)

Rio de Janeiro Area, Brazil

During my tenure as Head of Engineering and Data Science, I put emphasis on building a data-driven culture, implementing from zero a whole new data architecture to handle our data analytics needs and prepare the field for real-time data manipulation and machine learning, focusing on the company-wide deployment of analytics. I coordinated product squads that developed and implemented data-oriented strategies, thereby increasing the company's overall return on investment.

Moreover, I stressed the importance of a robust testing culture and thorough code reviews, integrating these practices into our data pipeline. We also perfected continuous integration and deployment mechanisms through integrations for our data pipeline.

During this time, I was at the helm of various satellite projects that had a profound impact on user engagement and the company's organic growth. In particular, one of the projects attracted more than 15 million users since its inception in 2016.

Throughout all these stages, my guiding principle was to foster an environment where innovation, determination, and performance were central to all our endeavors, and these attributes are reflected in every project I've been a part of.

Head of Product & Engineering

January 2017 - August 2017 (8 months)

Rio de Janeiro Area, Brazil

Taking advantage of my experience as a founder and product, I took the rein of Head of Product & Engineering, I began to synergize the engineering and product realms. As a product leader, I managed the team accountable for the website, mobile app, and the content platform, focusing on growth, engagement, retention, SEO, and customer satisfaction. A key achievement during this period was overseeing the team that developed the Learning Management System (LMS), which was actively used by our student base.

In this phase, I led the creation of various successful products like a revenue-targeted experience for users coming from organic search traffic, the beta study plan that increased video consumption by 20%, a notifications system, and a rudimentary recommendations system and hired a full new team of product managers at Descomplica.

Head Of Engineering

January 2015 - December 2016 (2 years)

Rio de Janeiro Area, Brazil

In my initial tenure as Head of Engineering at Descomplica, I oversaw the complete transformation of our technology stack using contemporary tools and frameworks. Our architecture was redesigned following a microservices approach. Key strategic decisions involved the adoption of Docker for all applications and the establishment of a Kubernetes cluster. Our main applications were built anew using Javascript, React, GraphQL, and MongoDB. At the time we were one of the first companies in Brazil using GraphQL in production and for the whole stack.

Simultaneously, I supervised six distinct engineering teams, a cohort of around 40 developers, that encompassed 3 platform teams, 1 payment team, 2 SEO teams, and 1 SRE team. As the primary technology manager, I ensured the hiring of skillful individuals, the organization of the technical area, the implementation of solid development practices and devOps, and the professional growth of each team member.

Samba Ventures

Samba Ventures was a Brazilian company dedicated to backup early stage startups. Our services range was broad: financial support, PR, technical development, etc. We focused on LATAM market, and our area of interest was e-commerce, social networks (both complementary tools to existing networks and brand new niche ones). In April 2011, Samba Ventures was shut down. The team now is fully committed to our main investment, Help Saúde [www.helpsaude.com]. My main focus was on the development of Tuitefone, a voice posting service for Twitter to enable lower income population without mobile internet access to use Twitter and helping build the first version of helpsaúde that later became our focus.
